Give the simple tools to track time …so homelessness doesn’t last for a lifetime.

Read our Annual Report to learn about our accomplishments in 2011!

Nearly 3.5 million people experience homelessness each year in the United States, 40% of which are children.  The number is likely far greater since it relies on statistical reports of self-identified homeless persons in our already overflowing shelters.  For those who summon the courage to better their situation, homeless shelters offer case management services to reconnect individuals to their basic needs.

The path to exiting a state of homelessness often involves appointments with a complex network of social, medical, employment, financial, and legal agencies.  Missing an appointment means missing an opportunity to exit homelessness, so timing is of the essence.  Unfortunately, a simple wristwatch can be luxury for someone without a home – yet vital to secure one.

Watch Over Me recognizes this need and has a simple mission:  ensure that a person trying to exit or avoid homelessness never misses an opportunity to do so because of lost time or information. Watches and journals are tools to track time, agency appointments, job interviews and contact information.  Our organization works with a coalition of social service agencies to supply and distribute wristwatches and appointment journals to the homeless.
